Three Days in Cefalu
View from La Rocca Hike
Day 1: Arrival and Sunset Stroll
You’ll likely arrive in Cefalù by midday or later in the afternoon. We checked into our Airbnb, which was along Via Umberto — a convenient location for exploring on foot. I liked that the location seemed local, yet touristy at the same time, you can see people hanging their laundry outside.
Once settled, wander through Cefalu’s Old Town and take a gentle stroll along the beach toward Spiaggia di Cefalù, the town’s main stretch of sand. The views of the old town from here, especially as the sun sets, are magical. The walkway along the beach, along the perimeter of Cefalu is just nice to walk along.
Eat at Pasta e Pasti or take it to go and eat it in your airbnb
Helpful Tip
I would avoid the seaside restaurants because they tend to be quite touristy — and honestly, some of the worst meals we had in Sicily.
Day 2: Explore the Old Town & Climb La Rocca
Start your morning with a coffee and pastry from one of the local cafés, then hike up La Rocca. This is the top priority and something you should absolutely do while in Cefalu. The views are absolutely stunning here and there are multiple trails leading to the way up. The earlier you start the less hot it will be so I recommend getting your day started early. At the very top there is a castle where you can have views from all sides. You will spend a few hours at least hiking La Rocca and exploring and enjoying its beauty.
Grab some food at a local spot in Cefalù’s Old Town. The cobblestone streets are lined with boutiques, gelaterias, and small piazzas where locals gather. Be sure to visit the Cefalù Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site with beautiful mosaics and panoramic views from the terrace. I enjoyed just grabbing a coffee and hanging out at the piazza where the cathedral is.
Grab some well deserved ice cream at Sapore di Sale.
Watch the sunset at any of the bars on the north side, we watched it from Bordomari Sea Lounge Bar.
Day 3: Beach Day and / or Explore the East Side
Talk a walk along the East side and go all the way to Spiaggia Kalura, you could also opt to explore more in town or relax at Cefalu’s main beach.
Other Things to See:
When we were driving out, everyone was stopped at Point de Vue, which had some really nice views of the city
I wanted to check out Lungomare di Cefalu but I did not have time. The waves at the main Cefalu beach are actually quite windy.
Things I would skip:
Honestly all the seaside restaurants and even the popular touristy restaurants like Triscele, and opt for something more low-key and local
Museo Mandralisca was truly not that impressive
Lavatoio Medievale is another tourist trap.
