Glacier National Park

After being laid off from my job during COVID-19, I started exploring the only places still open at the time — national parks. I ended up visiting over 15 of them, and by far, my favorite was Glacier National Park.

For me, the best national parks have a mix of dramatic landscapes, snow-capped peaks, wildlife, and incredible hiking trails — and Glacier has all of it.

It’s one of the few parks that truly offers everything you could hope for. With countless trails and breathtaking scenic drives, it’s impossible not to stop every few minutes just to take in the views (and snap a few photos).

Helpful Tips

  • Go to the park ranger office and tell them how long you want to hike and what you are looking for and they will point you in the right direction and suggest hikes that may be less traveled and fitting exactly what you are looking for.

  • I liked looking at Earth Trekkers because it had all the information and was easy to digest.

  • There aren’t many accommodations close to the park, I stayed in White Fish and drove into the park.

Not to be missed

  • Drive along the Going to the Sun Road, it is probably the most beautiful road you could ever drive on. You will want to stop and take photos of the many mountain caps and waterfalls.

  • View Lake Mcdonald

  • Go hiking, there are so so many trails!

    • Avalanche Lake, Logans Pass and Hidden Lake Overlook Trail are easy hikes, the obvious ones to go to/very popular and really shouldn’t be missed.
