Nepal: Chitwan National Park

Get in touch with nature and do yourself a favor and make it over to Chitwan National Park.

I took the bus from Kathmandu to Chitwan National Park, knowing it would take longer than expected.

I stayed at Hotel National Park, where the staff was incredibly friendly, warm and treated all of us as if we were family. The rooms weren’t fancy, but they were comfortable and, in my opinion, the best deal in the area. I became friends with other guests staying at the hotel and everyone was extremely friendly in the shared spaces. All the safaris and excursions can be arranged with the hotel once you arrive. Overall this is a great place for solo travelers or those on a budget!

TIP: If you book directly through WhatsApp and pay in cash, you can also get a discount.

There one’s one long main street that has most of the cafes and restaurants. My favorite spot were:

  • Shantiko Kitchen which had a very chill and peaceful vibe

  • Art Café for a laidback comfortable shop that is very cool inside

  • Café de Sauraha, a small bakery with the best Mawa Bread. I tried to go back and get it the next day because it was so delicious but someone else had come to the shop and bought all of them because they are so tasty and they aren’t sold anywhere else in the surrounding area
